I was sitting around a couple months ago and realized that I don’t have anyone to shoot with in my area. It’s not like there’s a lack of photographers/people with cameras in my area of South Jersey (609,856 stand up) or even across the bridge (215 stand up) but it was just a matter of getting in touch with folks and getting them together. That coupled with the fact that I used to hate traveling unless it was for a good reason *but that’s a post for another time* made things hard for me. BUT NO MORE!
Nah I’m kidding. I still kind of hate traveling but I’ll do it if I think there’s a good enough chance I’ll enjoy myself or don’t have responsibilities on the home fro
Hell of a tangent. Anyway, back to the matter at hand.
I had an idea a couple months ago about starting a collective/crew of artists that were constantly working on projects together. Think of it as a graf crew but with photographers/videographers/editors always working on new projects together. Sure not everyone is good behind the lens *speaking for myself, I’m more lucky than good* but are REALLY good with the photo or video edits. Eventually, I’d like to include folks that partake in other forms of artistry, but right now my main concern is photography/videography. We would all help each other grow as artists and the networking possibilities would be awesome.
Now for the problem that I ran into. A majority of the people that I hit up about the idea either didn’t respond, were already busy, were ABOUT to be busy, or don’t like the idea. That’s fine if you were already booked or didn’t like the idea, just let me know so I’m not sitting around waiting. It’s hard to have a collective of one. We wouldn’t be like The Borg, no group think or hive mind wanted here. One of the main reasons for this social experiment is to have as many ideas from as many sources as possible at once because it would make things more interesting. And awesome. I’m really shooting for awesome here.
You don’t have to be in the South Jersey/Eastern PA area of the US to be down. I want to chop it up with folks and see what’s going on where they live on the East Coast to try and get this ball rolling. If I have enough time and fundages to get to your city/state…I could quite possibly show up for a couple days of shooting or whatever. The fact that I recently bought a D7000 and am looking for reasons to justify this purpose is also fueling me to get the ball rolling. LOL
Just think of it, being able to share ideas/visions on the spot while on the same shoot. Sharing of gear *if you’re comfortable with that sort of thing*. Maybe bringing along the bored homie one time, letting them see what goes down, and QUITE POSSIBLY sparking their interest in something. It sounds great right? I thought it did too.
If you want to be down, let me know. there’s ways to get in contact with me if you’re serious.
i too, have a hard time finding people in my area to shoot with. i feel your pain
cameras, not guns. lol
